Though I knew the fundamentals of Christian life, true belief came later. After baptism, I struggled but kept rising. A retreat invitation reignited my spiritual journey—strengthening my faith and deepening my desire to draw near to God.
I found Emmanuel Church at the end of grad school, when the pastors picked me up for Bible study since I had no car. I stayed connected through Zoom and fasting after moving away. I met Susanna here the day before Easter, and married her a year later.
I moved to the U.S. in 2021, still scared to trust anyone with my heart. Before saying yes to marriage, I fasted five days for confirmation. Right after prayer that night, I heard God say, "It is done." I married Joseph a year later, and we now serve at the church that became home.
Emmanuel Church
The name “Emmanuel” means God with us—a powerful reminder of the divine presence in our lives. Inspired by Isaiah 7:14, we believe in the promise fulfilled through Jesus Christ:
Isaiah 7:14 “Therefore the Lord himself will give you a sign: The virgin will conceive and give birth to a son, and will call him Emmanuel.”
This Scripture forms the foundation of our identity as a church. It is not only a name—it is a calling.
Many cultures, one family—leading the lost, growing the found, all in the name of Jesus.”
“Giving: A Step of Faith”
Whoever sows sparingly will also reap sparingly, and whoever sows generously will also reap generously. 7 Each of you should give what you have decided in your heart to give, not reluctantly or under compulsion, for God loves a cheerful giver. 2 Corinthians 9:6-7
Our Purpose
Isaiah 7:14 prophesies the coming of Emmanuel, a name that signifies God’s presence with us. The name “Emmanuel” embodies the divine nature of God’s presence in our life. Our adoption of this name originated from our redemption in Christ symbolizing our testimony, showcasing God’s constant presence from our conception (Jeremiah 1:5) through a journey of disobedience to repentance and restoration. The Emmanuel Church logo symbolizes the heavenly gates, reflecting the church’s purpose to guide and lead people towards Kingdom of Heaven: Colossians 3:1–4: “Set your hearts on things above.”

Being born and raised in a Christian family, I came to know all the fundamentals of Christian life but I couldn’t believe. Later God hold me to come near and believed in him and later got baptized. After baptism I’m able to stand but falling down. This happened in several times but now I had intention to rise and move my spiritual life and meanwhile God gave a chance to rise and shine. After taking a flyer from Suhas, my heart is like pushing me to register and go for it and I did it. First day of retreat is excellent for faith but It acted as a foundation of faith. Then in second day of retreat I came to see the presence of holy spirit and it became a huge pillar of faith and I gained a confidence that I’m able to grow more and more spiritually and staying obedient in God.

In the final week of my master’s program at UNC Greensboro, I learned about Emmanuel Church through a Facebook friend who was part of the church’s leadership team. It was a Wednesday, and although I had no transportation, Pastors Sheeba and Sam graciously offered to pick me up so I could attend the Bible study.
From my very first visit, I experienced something I had never found in any other church. While I had attended many churches before, I had never felt such genuine fellowship, love, and care. Emmanuel Church didn’t feel like just another congregation—it felt like family.
Soon after, I moved to Charlotte to live with my brother after completing my master’s degree. Although I was no longer in Greensboro, my connection with Emmanuel Church continued. Every Wednesday, I faithfully joined the Bible studies over Zoom, and whenever I couldn’t attend a local church in Charlotte, I joined Emmanuel’s Sunday service online.
Throughout this time, Pastors Sheeba and Sam continued to mentor and discipline me. They encouraged me to step out of my comfort zone by leading Bible studies and dedicating extended periods to fasting, prayer, and studying God’s Word. One experience that deeply impacted me was spending three days in fasting, doing nothing but praying and reading the Bible. I had thought I was spiritually mature, but these experiences showed me there was so much more that God wanted to do in my life. Even from a distance, I became deeply involved in the church because of their constant guidance, encouragement, and investment in my spiritual growth.
During this journey, Pastor Sheeba shared dreams and visions that she believed God had given her about my calling. She encouraged me that God had a purpose for me in Greensboro and that I should return. Although circumstances prevented me from moving back immediately, God had His own plans. Little did I know that Emmanuel Church would also become the place where I would meet my life partner.
At the beginning of 2025, Pastor Sheeba encouraged me to reach out to Susanna, who had previously attended Emmanuel Church before moving to Apex. Initially, I contacted her because I was looking for a job, but what began as a simple church connection soon became something God was beautifully orchestrating. We first met in person at Emmanuel Church on April 19, 2025, just one day before Easter. Even though we lived in different cities, our conversations flowed naturally. We shared our testimonies, prayed together, and quickly realized that our relationship was being built on a shared love for Christ.
God continued to open doors for us. A church trip gave us the opportunity to spend meaningful time together, see each other’s strengths and vulnerabilities, and grow in our understanding of one another. During that trip, Pastor Sheeba surprised me by sharing that she had been prayerfully considering us as a potential match, confirming what God had already begun to place in our hearts. Although I was surprised, I wanted to first speak with Susanna before saying anything further. After the trip, we met with Pastor Sheeba, who lovingly walked alongside us, mentoring us through every step of our relationship with prayer, wisdom, and biblical counsel. She also graciously took the responsibility of speaking with both of our families.
With God’s guidance, pastoral mentorship, and the support of our families, we moved forward one step at a time. Eventually, our families met, blessed our relationship, and today we are grateful to be husband and wife.
As we begin this new chapter, our desire is to build a marriage centered on Christ—one marked by love, purpose, and service to God. We pray that our lives will reflect a healthy balance of family, work, and ministry, with Jesus always at the center.
Looking back, we can clearly see God’s faithfulness in every step of our journey. What began with a simple invitation to a Wednesday Bible study became the story of spiritual transformation, lifelong discipleship, and God’s gift of marriage.

I first met Pastors Sheeba and Sam through an acquaintance during my first few months after coming to the United States in 2021. They were a wonderful newly married couple, and one thing they shared immediately caught my attention—they were starting a church in Greensboro. At that time, they had begun hosting online Bible studies. Since I had not yet moved to Greensboro, I joined those Bible studies virtually.
I have now known them for over five years, and little did I know then that this couple and Emmanuel Church would play such a significant role in leading me to my life partner.
After I graduated in 2022, my family began searching for a suitable match so that I could also get married and settle down. Although I moved to a different city after graduation, I stayed in touch with Pastors Sheeba and Sam. I visited Emmanuel Church occasionally, often shared my prayer requests with them, and spoke openly about both the joys and challenges in my life. Even from a distance, they knew my story and faithfully continued praying for me.
During that season, while I was away, God was beautifully at work in my life. I was deeply hurt and broken because of some of the decisions I had made, and God took me on a journey of repentance and complete surrender to Him. In May 2024, Pastor Sheeba shared with me what she believed God had revealed regarding my calling at Emmanuel Church in Greensboro. At that time, however, I was not yet ready to move there. I was waiting for God to personally convict my heart.
During one of my visits to Emmanuel Church in April 2025, I met my husband, Joseph, in person for the very first time. We had known each other through the online Bible studies, but we had barely spoken. At that point, God was still healing me from years of hopelessness and brokenness. I struggled to trust people easily and carried a great deal of fear and emotional baggage.
By then, I was slowly learning to recognize the voice of God. In May 2025, God spoke to me through Joshua 1:9, giving me the courage to take a major step of faith and commit to Emmanuel Church. For nearly a year, I drove an hour each way to attend church. Looking back, I now see that this was the season when my life was becoming aligned with God’s will.
As time passed, Joseph and I began talking more. In June, we acknowledged our feelings for one another and soon shared them with Pastor Sheeba. Although I genuinely liked him, I found it difficult to express my feelings with confidence. Whenever someone asked, “Is this the man you want to marry?” I hesitated—not because I didn’t like him, but because my heart was still filled with fear and endless “what if” questions.
Pastor Sheeba encouraged me to fast and pray until I heard directly from God. I committed to a five-day fast, asking God for a supernatural sign and clear confirmation. To my amazement, God answered my prayer. The night after my fast ended, just as I finished my 3:00 a.m. prayer, I heard a clear voice in my spirit say, “It is done.” I was overwhelmed with joy. It was the first supernatural encounter of that kind I had ever experienced, and it gave me the peace and assurance I had been seeking.The two most significant times God spoke so clearly to me were regarding my calling and my marriage. In both situations, the enemy tried to distract me and keep me from saying “yes” to God’s plan. However, through the faithful prayers of my pastors and the members of Emmanuel Church, God delivered me from fear and filled me with faith. Week after week, Pastor Sheeba’s messages strengthened and encouraged me. During that season, I made bold decisions that I otherwise would never have had the courage to make.
A few weeks after receiving God’s supernatural confirmation, I wholeheartedly accepted Joseph and became completely confident in my “yes.”
Through every doubt and every question, I learned to seek God first. I was continually supported in prayer by my pastors and my church family. Lisa, a dear friend from church, prayed intentionally and fervently for both of us, carrying our journey with such love and faithfulness.
Joseph and I were married in April 2026, exactly one year after we first met in person. We moved to Greensboro and began attending Emmanuel Church together as husband and wife.
What makes our story especially beautiful is that it did not follow the patterns or expectations of the world. It unfolded in a unique and beautiful way because God was present through every step of the journey.
God has performed incredible miracles in both of our lives, both before and after our wedding, and I look forward with great anticipation to all that He has planned for us in the years ahead.
